![]() |  |  | In 2006, we beat West Ham United in the FA Cup Final, a match that is regarded as one of the greatest FA Cup finals ever. Within 28 minutes we were two-nil down and it took us almost forty minutes to get bac level. The lead only lasted ten minutes, when Paul Konchesky's mishit cross caught Pepe Reina out, and once again Liverpool were trailing. By full time, cramp seemed to be affecting everyone on the pitch, and in added time, a 35 yard Gerrard volley saved us from defeat. At the end of extra time, Pepe Reina saved three penalties to win us our seventh FA Cup. |
| 2004 - 2006 |
 |  |  | In 2005, Raphael Benitez took over as manager, and in his first season, took an unlikely team of outsiders on to beat AC Milan in the Champions League final in Istanbul. An epic match, by half time, Liverpool were 3-0 down, and the Milanese were already popping champagne corks in their dressing room. Then in the space of seven minutes, Steven Gerrard, Vladmir Smicer and Xabi Alonso scored to put us level. Shell-shocked Milan threw everything at us all the way through to the end of extra time, and in the penalty shootout, a legendary performance by Jerzy Dudek won us The European Cup for the fifth time. |
